Our Club Vision

"Flames Netball Club aims to provide an environment in which every

player is valued for their own abilities.

Coaches will endeavour to provide quality coaching in a safe and

enjoyable way. All players will be encouraged to fulfil their individual

potential, be this as a prospective national squad member or a member

of the club training squad.

Coaches will always recommend those players, who are ready, to the

England Satellite and County programmes.  These recommendations will

be based on combined experience; however, individual recommendations

can always be discussed with the coaching team."

THE CLUB

The club was formed in 1998 and from small beginnings we can now boast a membership in excess of 100 members.  Some of our assistant coaches joined us as Yr5s and are now part of the coaching team as well as being fully qualified umpires!

The aim of the club is to promote and develop the sport of Netball, giving the opportunity to participate and learn the required skills of the sport through structured coaching sessions delivered by England Netball qualified coaches matching skills, drills and fitness sessions to age and ability; thus enabling each player to reach their full potential within the club, or at County, Regional and National levels in a safe and friendly environment.

The club currently caters for players who are in School Year 11 (15 yrs old as at midnight 31st August 2011) and below. Teams play on a Saturday in the Chelmsford and District Junior Netball League and are also entered in all day rallies throughout the year. We also have teams in the Basildon Adult League.

For those who are in School Yrs4 and 5 (girls and boys) Flames Junior NC would love to welcome you to its development group and introduce you to netball and improve your skills. The Chelmsford and District Junior Netball League also holds a mini league just for you during the season.

For anyone wishing more information about the club please contact us at info@flamesnetballclub.co.uk.

Where to Find Us

Flames Junior Netball Club currently train at the Basildon Sporting Village, Gloucester Park North, Cranes Farm Road, Basildon, SS14 3DE. (The netball courts can be located behind the Sporting Village). Access can be gained via the village or the overflow car park to the left of the athletics track. Training normally takes place during school term time. For further details concerning training please go to our 'Dates for the Diary' page.

The Coaching Team

For the club to provide a high standard of coaching it is important that all our coaches are properly qualified and keep their qualifications and expertise up to date.

All coaches and assistant coaches have been CRB checked.

At present the club has seven staff qualified to different levels on the England Netball coaching ladder with four assistants who are working towards obtaining their qualifications.  They are:-

Level 2 Club Coach Award (qualified to coach up to Club Level)

Mary Martin, Helen Jewell, Amanda Jones, Jo Kilroy, Jackie Schormans, Charlotte Olley

Level 1 Assistant Coaching Certificate (qualified to work with beginners of all ages)

Karen McGlynn

The Umpiring Team

Not only does our coaching team hold Qualifications in Coaching, as you would expect, but most are qualified umpires too!  This is an important aspect of our players development as you need to understand the sport 100% if you are going to be able to partake fully.  We have a B Award Umpire, six C Award Umpires and three Beginner Award Umpires at the Club.
